Victor Stream Portable DAISY Player
What is DAISY?
DAISY stands for Digital Accessible Information SYstem and is an international standard for marking up talking books used by the major publishers. Just as the internet allows for flexible navigation with search bars, clickable index entries, the use of the back button for when you want to start another search from a few pages back. DAISY enables navigation within a sequential and hierarchical structure consisting of marked text synchronized with audio. DAISY assists with navigation around a long book. For example, you can navigate by page, chapter number, or in the case of a dictionary, alphabetically. DAISY books look and sound like regular audio books, but they allow for the content to be navigated with far more flexibility than a CD based talking book which may contain 25 chapters per disc. This is fine for navigating novels, which are by their nature, linear. DAISY books, on the other hand, can enable users who are blind to navigate an encyclopaedia which would be close to impossible using standard, limited, CD segmentation.
Introducing the versatile Victor Stream Portable DAISY Player The Victor Stream is ideal for the visually impaired book worm, or for people who like their books to be read to them. It is ideal for the strap-hanging commuter, jogger or gym fan. Having your books read to you is easily achieved. You can either use the in-built speaker, and if privacy is preferred, you can also plug in the supplied headphones. You can also connect the Victor Stream to a hi-fi via an easy to purchase cable (3.5mm stereo mini jack) - just like a personal stereo or MP3 player.
