The Intel Reader combines a high resolution camera with the power of an Intel Atom processor to convert printed text to digital text, and then read it aloud to the user.

Transforms printed text into speech, anytime, anywhere

Weighing just over 600 grams and about the size of a paperback book, the Intel Reader provides all the power of a bulky PC plus scanner in a convenient size for school, home, or on the move. The Intel Reader fits easily into a schoolbag or backpack and has a sturdy magnesium case and generous battery life of up to 4 hours continuous use.

In the classroom, teachers can continue to use existing worksheets and other printed material. Students can use the Intel Reader to access course material and lesson content as it is handed out. They simply point, shoot, and quickly listen to handouts, tests and books and the earphones allow private listening, clearly and discreetly, without disturbing others.

The Intel Reader can read back text in a variety of voices and speeds. During playback, the text is highlighted as it is read aloud, and users can have the Intel Reader pause and spell out highlighted words helping students to become independent learners. The Intel Reader helps students organise and access captured documents efficiently so they can accomplish tasks faster. With over 2 GB of storage space, pupils can store up to 600 pages of captured text or over 500,000 pages of text only documents.

Quickly access your favourite books

The library feature lets students bookmark favourite documents for fast access. They can navigate within a document by word, sentence, or by page, and they can go to a specific page or jump to the beginning or the end.

The Intel Reader can store and play back a wide choice of content as well as captured text. It will play most content, including DAISY* books and even text transferred from a PC, as well as MP3 or WAV music files.

Save your printed books as audio files

It can also generate audio versions of printed materials as MP3s, which can be played on most digital music players or computers. A USB connection makes it easy to transfer files to or from a PC.
